There are a lot of details about this place that Dashki the gish tells you after you take out the mindflayers. Here's the bullet points version; anything more extensive be sure to ask.
You are currently in a mine of sorts were the gish are looking for gems. There are about 50 slaves here, all grateful towards you. There's some food and water here for the party and the slaves but not enough to sustain you for a large amount of time.
Rather than turning this into a giant escort mission, the slaves will stay at the camp organizing themselves and seeing what their next move is. Also, there's a lot of crazy monsters out there. None of the slaves have gone much farther beyond the waterfall but they have heard stories about this sort of thing. Mindflayers who use charm monster to patrol the areas on giant burrowing monsters is one of the more prevalent ones.
Mapwise, consider yourselves at the Westernmost part of the current area. Going East after the area of the waterfall will lead to other large tunnels that will lead to other mines, factories of sorts, small towns with other Underdark denizens. Moving far enough will eventually lead to Central city, a cosmopolitan place where everyone with darkvision lives and and only slightly hate each other. The slaves that everyone has really makes things easier, except for the slaves. Central city contains a lot of things, including the fabled teleportation tile and a gladiatorial arena.
The only humans in the Underdark are apparently some badasses that respond directly to the big triad of leaders. They are easily distinguished by their sunglasses. The slaves here have only heard of two such humans. Aratek, the guy you fought who was the supervisor of this particular mine. Liam is the only other human they have heard about and he's apparently a legend. The champion of the arena who can beat anyone in a "fair fight". Much like Aratek, he uses no armor or signature weapon. Unlike him, he has no magic items at all, yet he can kill just about anything. He works for one of the most powerful beholders in this plane.
Other details are sketchy at best. Have fun people.
