Just an idea I had, need to copy down my conversation with Adam on it, lest I forget by the morning.
Darkest Prison (1:51:45 AM): I had a random character idea
BardicLasher (1:51:56 AM): Anthropomorphic pie?
Darkest Prison (1:52:19 AM): A cleric who suffers from solipsism syndrome and worships himself. not out of vanity, but due to mental illness
BardicLasher (1:53:47 AM): That would be... weird and interesting.
Darkest Prison (1:54:05 AM): prefarebly with rules to actually make it "work." for example, because he is the only truly real thing in the world, he cannot be killed. if "killed," he's instead reduced to a catatonic state similar to the Microcosm, finally losing all mental capabilities to the point that all he can do is lay there and blankly stare
BardicLasher (1:54:41 AM): But IS he the only real thing in the world?
Darkest Prison (1:54:43 AM): (unlike microcosm he would not die from lack of care, obviously). not dying is powerful, but needing level 9 powers/spells to recover is the trade-off
Darkest Prison (1:54:56 AM): he believes he is, and so it's true!
BardicLasher (1:55:00 AM): ...Huh.
Darkest Prison (1:55:06 AM): that'd be the whole point of houserules
Darkest Prison (1:55:32 AM): to make it mechanically work that he REALLY is the only real thing, from his perspective, and nothing can disprove it
Darkest Prison (1:56:05 AM): my view: in a world where gods are actually running around and talking to mortals, and reading books lets you burninate things...it's not so farfetched
Darkest Prison (1:56:48 AM): I think it would be a fun character
BardicLasher (1:56:57 AM): That's fair.
Darkest Prison (1:57:23 AM): just need to pick the personality. could go shadowcraft mage illusions, with the whole "can't tell reality apart from illusion" angle
Darkest Prison (1:57:53 AM): could do a BOED pacifist character, that feels that since everything is a construct of his own envisioning, he can't bring himself ot destroy ANY of it
Darkest Prison (1:58:02 AM): *to
Darkest Prison (1:58:23 AM): or, could make a purely destructive personality, where he figurs nothnig else is real, so let it all burn, who cares?
BardicLasher (1:58:25 AM): Alternatively, he could figure it's all a dream and then sees no problem in destroying anything
BardicLasher (1:58:28 AM): Heh, yeah
Darkest Prison (1:58:44 AM): bah, my typing was awful there
Darkest Prison (1:59:01 AM): but yeah, it'd be fun, whichever way I chose to portray it
Darkest Prison (2:00:41 AM): interaction with the world is still important, of course. he can very well say right to the face of Zeus, "you're just a construct of my subconsious." and, in fairness, Zeus could then strike him with lightning, sending into "death" -- catanonic shock over how his own world has reacted to him
Darkest Prison (2:01:00 AM): *sending him into "death"
BardicLasher (2:01:18 AM): He should find a way to add his Cha to all saves.
Darkest Prison (2:01:22 AM): lol
Darkest Prison (2:01:33 AM): madness domain would certainly fit...
Darkest Prison (2:03:10 AM): could also jack his wisdom (cleric, so no stretch there) and max his ranks in profession (philosopher) and portray him as a sort of Descarte, who's reached the stage of "I think, therefore i exist"
BardicLasher (2:03:33 AM): Heh
Darkest Prison (2:03:37 AM): except, unlike the real descarte, he doesn't fuck it all up with bullshit after that and realizes he can't prove anything else is real beyond himself
Darkest Prison (2:04:09 AM): and then engages the other PCs in philosophical debates, proving to them why none of them are real, likely to their annoyance
Darkest Prison (2:06:12 AM): hmmm...
Darkest Prison (2:06:33 AM): any sort of fort save versus death, like death from massive damage. should be a wil lsave to disbelieve
Darkest Prison (2:06:41 AM): *will save
Darkest Prison (2:09:43 AM): would be interesting if a PC solipsism cleric were to encounter an NPC solipsism cleric...
BardicLasher (2:10:00 AM): That'd be funny.
Darkest Prison (2:10:04 AM): yeah
